- Paul told his children that after his mother died in Aug. 1912, the i r father could not cope with raising six children. He turned the t h re e youngest, all boys, over to Bethany Children's Home. Accordin g t o r ecords kept by Bethany Children's Home, Womelsdorf, Berks Co. , PA , Pau l, with his brothers, Clarence David and George Saul Chris t man e ntere d the home on February 4, 1913. Paul's birth date wasr e c orded as Jan uary 3, 1905. According to his children, their fath e r mi sstate d the y ear of Paul's birth so that he would be housedw i t h hi s older brothers . He was actually a year younger than st a t e d . Davi d was dis charged f rom Bethany on March 10, 1917. Geor g e a nd Pa ul we re dischar ged on Jan uary 18, 1919. I foundo u t l ater, he was also Owen Sr's uncle Fisher's first wife and Owe n ' s mot her were sisters. Owen was living with his grandfather, Da v i d N eff i n Reading when he met Sue.
