Matthias Hafer landed in America in 1773, traveling from the Alsace region in Germany and eventually settling in Reading, Berks County, PA where he established a farm and raised his family.

His life is the opening chapter of a vast, thriving American Family.

The "Berks County Hafers" family tree now stands at over 8000 members, 18 generations.
